“Thinking from the end”
I have a picture on my wall in my home workout studio that reads, “The secret to having it all is believing that you already do.” I look at it every time I enter the room and it’s a great reminder about the power of our own individual belief system. The power that we all have but either under-utilize or use it in the wrong way unconsciously. Take a look at your life right now in terms of what is or isn’t working. It’s easy to take credit for the good things we’ve created in our lives, but not so comfortable to acknowledge that we’ve also created the challenges, obstacles, difficult relationships and whatever else we may consider to be bad luck. If that level of accountability doesn’t resonate with you right now that’s ok, but if you are blaming anything on anyone else, just take a break for a minute from that old story, keep an open mind, and keep reading.
Now, let’s try looking at this from a positive perspective. Who is your favorite successful actor or sports figure? As you consider that person, I can tell you with a great deal of certainty that they have learned to think from the end. It doesn’t matter if like the rest of us, they have moments of doubt, their prevailing thoughts are more dominantly focused on success.
So simple, yet imperative to anything you’d like to change or create in your life. Let’s break down the process that these icons typically repeat over and over:
They set clear intentions, knowing exactly what they want
They probably spend a lot of time visualizing themselves in that winning moment
During visualization, they also feel the elevated emotions that will be present when their dreams come true
They are disciplined about their thoughts. When those moments of doubt pop up, they recognize it and move on to a positive thought about the outcome they desire
They don’t push against resistance, exacerbating more resistance because they are calm in the “knowing”
They do the work necessary to get there!
Assuming you are reading this blog because you want to change something about your health or fitness level, this concept is the Number 1 thing I try to teach my clients. It’s embedded into The Fitness Forward Method, and when clients start deviating back to a limiting belief or playing the victim card, I gently remind them to hit the mental delete button and start again with the right frame of mind.
There is never a better time to start than today. I’ve always thought of fall with a sense of renewal, shedding the old and moving on refreshed and excited about the new. So why not take on this one small life-changing challenge. Start small, pick one thing you want to manifest or change and go for it. Begin right now picturing yourself as a new you, see yourself doing the work, imagine people complimenting you, more importantly imagine yourself looking and feeling great. What would that feel like and mean to you? Dwell on those images and feelings until they become a reality. Of course don’t forget to do the work, and poof, success!
Cheers!
